Why your website gets traffic but no enquiries: 9 checks

A website can receive visitors and still generate very few enquiries. Before increasing the advertising budget or ordering a complete redesign, find out where the customer journey breaks down. These nine checks cover the most common problems.

1. The offer is difficult to understand

The first screen should explain what you do, who it is for and what the visitor can do next. An abstract slogan cannot replace a clear service description. Review the page as someone who knows nothing about your company.

2. The wrong audience arrives

A relevant-looking keyword does not necessarily express buying intent. Compare actual search terms, ad messages and landing-page content. Our Yandex Direct troubleshooting guide explains where ad budgets are often wasted.

3. The form asks for too much

Every unnecessary field adds friction. A first enquiry may need only a name and contact method, depending on the service. Send a real test message and confirm that it reaches the team.

4. Mobile visitors struggle

Tiny text, overlapping buttons, awkward navigation and unstable layouts can make an otherwise attractive website unusable. Test the complete journey from arriving on the page to successful form submission.

5. The page loads slowly

Large visuals, heavy scripts and third-party widgets can delay the content visitors came to see. Measure the problem before changing anything. For a practical plan, read how to improve PageSpeed.

6. The site lacks credibility

Useful case studies, clear contacts, transparent conditions and evidence of expertise often matter more than decorative animation. Make it easy for prospects to understand who will deliver the work.

7. The call to action is hard to find

A visitor ready to request a quote should not need to search through a long page. Put clear actions near the information that motivates them, without resorting to intrusive pop-ups.

8. Conversions are not measured correctly

Page views do not reveal which campaigns produce enquiries. Track verified form submissions separately from phone clicks or messenger opens. A Yandex Metrica goals setup should distinguish interest from a confirmed lead.

9. Enquiries are not handled

Sometimes the problem begins after the website: messages are lost, emails go to spam or the sales team responds too late. Test the entire process, including the company’s reply.

A sensible order of work

  1. Test forms and contacts on desktop and mobile.
  2. Check traffic sources and the most visited landing pages.
  3. Verify at least one meaningful conversion goal.
  4. Identify the most serious obstacle in the journey.
  5. Make measured changes and compare results.

Bottom line: low enquiries do not automatically justify a complete redesign. A specific technical fix, clearer offer or better contact flow may help more. For broader usability problems, consider a UX audit.
